Porziņģis Remains Out Indefinitely, Leaving Warriors a Scoring Gap

Golden State remains without a center averaging 16.7 points, with his scoring, rebounding and passing defining the challenge of replacing his production.

Warriors center Kristaps Porziņģis remains out indefinitely, NBA.com reports. For Golden State, the basketball implications start with his latest season averages: 16.7 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists across 32 games. That is production in three areas to account for while he remains unavailable, with scoring the most prominent piece.

The 16.7 points per game provide the clearest measure of the offensive gap. Replacing that output is not simply a matter of finding more shots; efficiency matters, too. Porziņģis has shot 44.6% from the field and 33.8% from three-point range. Those percentages give Golden State a benchmark for the production it is trying to replace, rather than a reason to assume every additional attempt will deliver the same return.

His three-point percentage also adds context to his scoring profile. Perimeter shooting is part of his offensive contribution, although that percentage alone does not establish how heavily he relies on it. The broader point is that evaluating his absence only through total points would leave out both shooting efficiency and his contributions beyond scoring.

The 5.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game complete that picture. Golden State's challenge is not necessarily to find one player who matches every average, but to cover those contributions collectively. With Porziņģis out indefinitely, that remains a multidimensional task—not just a scoring assignment.
