Cameron Boozer Takes No. 1 on Kia Rookie Ladder, With Room to Grow

PlayFandom • Oct 29, 2026 • 2 minute read

Boozer leads NBA.com’s debut Top 10 rookie ranking, with a well-rounded statistical profile and shooting efficiency that leaves a clear next step.

Cameron Boozer has grabbed the No. 1 spot in the debut Top 10 of the Kia Rookie Ladder, NBA.com reports. It is an early distinction backed by production across several categories: through eight games, Boozer is averaging 14.4 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.9 assists. The appeal is not just his scoring total, but how much else he contributes alongside it.

The rebounding and assist averages give this ranking its strongest statistical context. Eight boards per game bring substance beyond the points, while 3.9 assists add another dimension to his offensive output. Together, those numbers describe a broader contribution than scoring alone would suggest. That matters when assessing a rookie whose shooting percentages remain uneven.

Boozer is shooting 35.1% from the field and 28.9% from three-point range. Those marks are the clearest counterweight to the excitement surrounding his top ranking. His production is already notable, but better accuracy would strengthen the case that this start can become something more convincing. For now, volume and efficiency tell different parts of the story.

Meanwhile, Memphis has its own strong opening statement: the Grizzlies’ latest record is 4-0, with a four-game winning streak. That unbeaten start and Boozer’s ladder placement offer encouraging early markers, not finished verdicts. For Boozer, the next statistical challenge is straightforward: maintain the all-around output while raising the shooting percentages.
